About

Biography
Filmmaker John Fairfield was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1979 and graduated from Dundee College in 1999 with an HND in Graphic Design.

Deciding to call an end to any further education at this point he went on to work as a researcher and editor for a local games company (Visual Science). However John felt this wasn't keeping the creative side of him fulfilled and so turned to writing scripts.

Having been obsessed with the art of cinema since childhood, he enlisted the help of family and friends to help bring his scripts to life. One film in particular (The Helix) was a local success. Despite being made on a tiny budget of only £300 The Helix premiered at the Dundee Contemporary Arts in 2005 to rave reviews and fought off some stiff competition to pick up 2 awards at the Fairport Film Festival.

After enjoying this success John decided to turn his hobby into a full time career. With this in mind he applied to Dundee University, Duncan of Jordanstone, Time Based Art and Digital Film where he is currently completing his 4th year BA (Hons).

During his time at Duncan of Jordanstone, John has Produced, Writen and Directed a number of his own films and music videos both for university and also on commission. He has also worked on other projects hired as Scriptwriter, Editor & Assistant Director.
