 Desperate dan statue

Desperate Dan Statue and ‘Dawg'

Desperate Dan, hero of DC Thomson's ‘The Dandy' comics, is immortalised in Dundee, his place of ‘birth'. The grizzly-faced strong man is cast in an 8-ft tall bronze statue in the city centre alongside his ‘Dawg'.

Designed by Frank Gehry, Maggie's Dundee is a cancer care centre located at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. It was Gehry's first building in the UK and has been awarded a ‘Building of the Year' title by the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland. Visitors can view the exterior of the building.
