Angus & Dundee Roots Festival 2010
Thanks to everyone who took part in the 3rd Angus & Dundee Roots Festival in 2010.
The Festival provided practical help for everyone who wants to find out more about their family history in Angus and Dundee, and also offered the chance to be in the audience for a recording of BBC Radio Scotland's popular genealogy programme Digging Up Your Roots to be broadcast in early 2011.
Visitors who attended the Tayroots Ancestral Luncheon at Dundee City Chambers were welcomed by the Lord Provost, serenaded by Sheena Wellington, and entertained by genealogy expert Dr Bruce Durie.
Music played a part, with Jim Malcolm scintillating in concert at the House of Dun, Bob Pegg and Heather Yule making music from shells and a harp and telling stories at the Abbey Theatre Arbroath, and two great traditional music sessions at Carnoustie and Brechin.
Located at Dundee Family History Centre, Angus Archives, Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin and Carnoustie, the events mixed practical genealogy with a taste of the fascinating heritage of the area, and was enjoyed by visitors from Ohio to New South Wales.
