International App Development Conference - Discovery Point
In November 2010, a group of international delegates came together in Dundee for the first ever International App Development Conference. Red Pepper Events had the pleasure of working with Andy Mackenzie of Dundee College as well as Scott Downie of Hungry Boy. This event was created out of a simple passion for Dundee and is creative industries - we need more events like this on to put Dundee on the map. It was our roll as event managers to create a good conference and as a team we succeeded.
As part of the Interreg funded Creative City Challenge project, Dundee College, along with key project and other industry partners, held the 3 day International App Development Conference from the 8th to 10th November 2010 in Dundee, Scotland, as part of the week long NEoN Digital Arts Festival.
This key conference brought together the very best in professional app development from around the North Sea Region. Platform providers, developers and other industry professionals provided industry insight & knowledge centred within the app development industry.
The Conference was attended by app developers, and people who were looking to get into app development, with a program of essential information to get them developing that killer app and connect them with all the people to make it happen!
The AppJam:
Running parallel to the main conference was the 48 hour ‘App Jam’ when selected participants were challenged to develop and present their app concept. Participants, working together in small, international, multi-discipline teams developed original ideas and IP with the aim of releasing any new titles developed, and exploiting routes to market immediately after the event. Supported by industry professionals, the teams were encouraged to help each other out with problem solving and production while sharing their skill set to achieve final publication.
