People and Poetry in Dundee, 1850-1950: Writing Communities
Every Friday for 5 weeks. This course explores Dundee's rich poetry and song heritage, and how writers reflected the changing social contexts they lived in. Offered over three five-week sections which can be taken and enjoyed separately or consecutively, the first session, Print and Performance, looks at the role of newspapers and street literature in shaping poetry and song culture. Following blocks will consider Writing Communities and Politics and Place. Tutor: Erin Catriona Fairley.
