Following a nationwide recruitment exercise, Linda Leuchars will become the new Chief Executive Officer of Dundee Science Centre on Friday 10 February 2017.

Linda, born and bred in Dundee and a University of Dundee graduate, joined Dundee Science Centre as Education Officer in 2008. Since then, she has held a number of progressive posts within the Centre.

The appointment comes at a time of great change for Dundee Science Centre as the organisation pushes ahead with a proposed £2M Expansion Project - introducing upgraded facilities for the Science Learning Institute and a new interactive Medical Research and Innovation Exhibition.

Announcing her appointment, Professor David Sigsworth OBE, Chairman of Dundee Science Centre Board commented, “On behalf of the Board, I warmly congratulate Linda on her appointment. Linda stepped up and assumed the role of Interim CEO in 2015 and, despite the challenging circumstances, has led the team to conclude two of its most successful years. Based on her extensive knowledge, skills and previous experience, I have every confidence that Linda will continue to lead and support Dundee Science Centre in its role as a leading Scottish visitor attraction and a valuable community hub for science engagement and education across Scotland.”

Linda added, “I am truly honoured and excited to be appointed Chief Executive Officer of Dundee Science Centre. Having worked here for nine years, I have had the pleasure of witnessing and being part of the Centre’s evolution and am very much looking forward to the years ahead”.

A graduate of Pharmacology and with an MPhil in Biomedicine and Neuroscience, Linda entered science communication whilst still working in research, leading to a full-time career change with Dundee Science Centre in April 2008.

Linda is also on the Board of Trustees of the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC), which brings together over 60 major science-focused organisations across the UK to play a strategic role in the nation’s engagement with science.
