Funding boost for Festivals

Dundee Blues Bonanza will benefit from new tourism funding it was announced yesterday.

They are among five local tourist attractions awarded a share of more than £30,000 from the Innovation and Development Fund, which is jointly funded by Destination Dundee and Angus and Dundee Tourism Partnership.

The Dundee Blues Bonanza was one of two city festivals given funding - the other being NEoN 2010 digital arts event.

The money awarded to the Dundee Blues Bonanza will be used to fly in an international blues star to perform at the night before the festival officially begins on July 23.

"As well as attracting more people to the Dundee Blues Bonanza, by having an international act headlining on the Friday night the music fans who travel from all over Europe for the festival arrive one night earlier, with all the benefits this brings to the local economy" said organiser Bob Telford.
