V&A Museum of Design Dundee will embody the enterprise of Dundee, contribute greatly to Scotland's cultural ecology and stimulate economic growth, by establishing Scotland as a leading global player in design. It is anticipated V&A Museum of Design Dundee, designed by leading Japanese architect Kengo Kuma will open to the public in 2018.


The main function of the Museum will be to showcase Scottish design talent, provide a UK base for major international touring exhibitions, and promote a wider understanding and application of design.

The intention for this Museum is to be a catalyst for the entire region's economic and cultural regeneration is that it will become a hub for everyone - the place to meet, greet and be proud of. Inevitably, V&A Museum of Design Dundee is likely to become the city's landmark building and a meeting place for all.

Design Dundee Ltd (DDL) is driving the project which is a partnership between V&A Dundee, the University of Dundee, the University of Abertay Dundee, Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise.

The stunning design by Japanese-based architects Kengo-Kumo and Associates was selected by an international jury as the choice for V&A Dundee following an extensive process of consultation end evaluation. 



Botanic Gardens

The University of Dundee Botanic Garden is host to a wide range of plants, a collection of conifers and broad-leaved trees and shrubs, tropical and temperate glasshouses, water garden and herb garden.

Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre (DCA)

Dundee is home to an eclectic arts and cultural scene, with the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre (DCA) at its heart. Leading architect, Richard Murphy, designed this iconic gallery in 1999. Home to contemporary gallery space, 2 cinema screens, print-makers workshop, restaurant and café bar, the DCA is a family-friendly venue.
