It’s time to celebrate the season in Dundee, as the city launches an exciting timetable of festive celebrations which the whole family can enjoy. Running all the way through to early January, head to City Square for the ultimate Christmas selfie, then follow the brand-new illuminations down to Slessor Gardens where you’ll find a big wheel, ice skating rink and Christmas markets filled with local vendors to explore.

This year, Dundee is switching on a brand-new set of Christmas lights. Specially designed for the city, keep a look out for your favourite DC Thomson characters who will appear alongside designs inspired by Dundee’s rich heritage. For the first year ever, Dundee will have a living Christmas tree, so head down to the City Churches to see it sparkle!

The heart of the city will light up this Christmas, and it’s not to be missed! From December 2nd-24th, City Square will become the heart of Dundee’s festivities. Enjoy nightly projections on the City Chambers, and illuminated Wishing Fountains, and there’s the chance to take your ultimate selfies at Dundee’s 3D Christmas Card which has been specially commissioned by Beano Studios. Those wishing to get into Christmas spirit can donate gifts to those in need at Social Bite’s Tree of Kindness, and our city’s much loved Pingoo returns for another year, and head to the activity tent which will play host to a regular schedule of activities including workshops and ‘Letters to Santa’ station. Hot drinks are also available to enjoy on site from the Wee Tipple Trailer at weekends.

Opening hours: 11am – 7pm Sun – Thurs, 11am-8.30pm Fri and Sat.

Free - no booking required.
