Our family-friendly activities programme is jam packed with story-telling and comic related fun with free activities organised by Dundee City Council as well as our partners at the V&A Dundee, DCA , The McManus: Dundee' Art Gallery & Museum and the University of Dundee.

Dennis and Gnash Dash

Sunday 17^th July

The World’s First Dennis and Gnash Dash! Join us for the funnest fun run to takeover Dundee City Centre, turning the streets of red and black. All ages are welcome to run, walk, wheel or hop the route dressed in our favourite menace colours. Gnasher look-a-likes also welcome! Medals guaranteed.

The Blamazing Beanotown Map

Thursday 14^th- Sunday 24^th July

The Blamazing Beanotown Map: uncover the secrets of the World capital of Comics, Dundee, as told by Dennis, Minnie and Gnasher. Follow their footsteps around the must-see locations connected with comics of the past, present and future! Starting from McManus Galleries, a forty-minute accessible (interactive) family walking tour.

Comics Character Parade

Saturday 23^th July, 3pm, City Square

Wave to a wizard, dress as your hero, or mooch with a menace in our character parade – come dressed as your favourite comic book character and join the parade around the city centre.

With a family section and a cosplay section, we’ll have medals for best shoes, hat, costumes, dog, smile, frown and family effort.

We’ll be joined by musical street band favourites to dance us along the route in a fiesta of finery!

No registration needed, just turn up and join in. FREE

Parade route will leave City Square, process up Reform Street, turn at McManus entrance and return to City Sqaure.

Marvellous Marble Guinness World Record Attempt

Sunday 24^th July, 2pm

Join UNBOSI, Scrapantics, Creative Dundee and Friends for a massive marvellous world record attempt! With your help, the team will attempt to build the largest marble loop-the-loop ever created! Sprawling along Reform street, this is a history-defining moment not to be missed!

Watch in awe as the Marbleologists set loose their marbles on the track, make adjustments and work up to the record attempt! Join in with construction and make your mark in the record books - we'll need your help to make it happen!

Details

From 2pm: arrive in the afternoon to see the World's Largest Marble loop-the-loop being constructed

World Record Attempt will be officially recorded at 3:33pm

Recreate the Open Golf Championships in miniature in City Square! FREE family fun for all!

Join us in City Square for some family friendly fun activities. Relax in our comic library, draw your own comics, make a badge or get your face painted in our FREE space.

Reform Street takeover

Saturday 23^rd & Sunday 24^th July

Spreading out from City Square, we’ll have picnic and games spaces along Reform Street. Why not relax and enjoy our music and wandering street entertainment.

Comic-themed family fun with 'drop in and spot it'. Explore The Street on a self-led Find The "Bash" Street additions.

As part of this year's Dundee Summer Bash Streets Festival, drop into The McManus and have some family fun with the Creative Learning Team to get your comic-themed costume accessories ready for the Dennis and Gnash Dash, and the Costume Parade!

Rule Breakers

Drop In, free

Join our rulebreakers Chip Collective to design your own comic "Make like Minnie the Minx and Dennis”, break all the rules to design your own comic, characters, and storyline.

Grab a bean bag and peruse your way through a mini-Beano library of comics for inspiration to create your own.
