Guide Dog Boarder Coffee Morning
Venue: Guide Dog Training School, Orchardbank Business Park, Dean Way, Forfar, DD8 1WG. This is an event to get our current boarders together and just have some coffee, cake and a blether. We would also like to extend the invite to anyone who may be interested in boarding to come along and meet us and get to know all about the role. One of our Guide Dog Owners will also be joining and giving a little talk about how much boarders help our dogs. We have full time boarders who drop the dogs off at the centre for a day of training and collect them in the evenings, Monday to Friday. They keep them at home with them at weekends and walk them then. These boarders have the dogs from anywhere from 4 weeks to 26 weeks. Our respite boarders take dogs who need a wee break from boarding, are awaiting rehoming or need to be tested in a home environment. These dogs dont come to the centre on a daily basis and for this reason the respite boarders will not be working so the dogs can rest up with them during the day. They can have a dog anywhere from a weekend to a few weeks to a few months. We have around 30 boarding homes at the moment but around 100 dogs in kennels and some of our dogs wouldn't be successful in being guides without our boarders. They provide them with a loving home environment to put their paws up after a hard days training. Please pop along to the coffee morning and come and meet us if you are interested in boarding. Please just let us know you are coming to ensure we have enough cake to go around. This is such a rewarding role that helps change someones life and that the whole family can be involved in.
