Who Can Use Your Data? Forensic Evidence in the Digital Age
Our devices and the world around us collects data on our movements, actions and interests. But who should be able to use and access this information if a crime is committed? What knowledge does the public have about this process and how they consent to data being used? At this panel discussion you will hear from legal professionals, technology experts, forensic scientists and from those who can present the perspectives of public audiences. This event will highlight some of the current challenges, competing priorities and legal vs ethical considerations when it comes to the application of digital forensic evidence. Speakers: Sandy Brindley (Chief Executive of Rape Crisis Scotland). Dr Eamon Kane (Solicitor and Lecturer in Evidence and Criminal Procedure, University of Glasgow). Brian Plastow (Scottish Biometrics Commissioner). This event will be chaired by Professor Niamh Nic Daeid, the Director of Dundee's Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science. This event is part of the University of Dundee's Being Human Festival Hub. We will host this event in a hybrid manner. Information published by Leisure and Culture Dundee.
