Lonely Planet names Dundee in Best in Europe 2018 list

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in Dundee’s case it’s taken a whole city working together to achieve this ‘money-cant-buy’ achievement.

Today, Dundee was named as one of Europe’s most exciting destinations to visit in 2018 by the number one travel guidebook brand, Lonely Planet. 

It’s been four years since a Scottish city made it onto this influential list and we’re the only UK city to be featured as one of Europe’s best alternative city breaks for 2018!

The impartial recognition from the travel experts at Lonely Planet is a fantastic endorsement that we are well on our way to achieving our tourism goal of making Dundee one of the best small cites in the UK for cultural short breaks.

Dundee’s marketing campaign, One City, Many Discoveries has been promoting Dundee’s tourism message for 10 years focusing on the redevelopment of the city’s waterfront, the world-class visitor attractions, independent businesses, unbeatable coastal location and of course the characterful and friendly locals at the heart of it all.

We work closely with all our city partners to ensure when media visit to report on the city whether from Brazil or Bristol, Milan or Manchester we ensure they have a locally curated, culturally rich experience befitting of the warmth and character so unique to Dundee.
