Discovery Point 30 Years Anniversary
Discovery Point is celebrating its 30th anniversary on Saturday, 1 July, but, despite it being the start of the school summer holidays, visitors are being encouraged to wrap up warm! Discovery Point will be hosting an austral winter - winter in the Southern Hemisphere - as experienced by the crew of the RRS Discovery that, included Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Ernest Shackleton and Edward Wilson, on the highly successful British National Antarctic Expedition in 1901. Visitors on 1 July will be able to discover what it takes to be a Polar explorer; learn how to tie knots like a sailor; watch a live demonstration of the preparation of hoosh and the chance to taste traditional ships biscuits, and take part in an interactive afternoon of exploration, experiments, and messy play. See more information about the activities and booking here. Information published by Leisure and Culture Dundee.
