ALL FREE, ALL DAY, ALL BLUES
The city of Dundee once again hosts the Dundee Blues Bonanza from Fri 1st July to Sun 3rd July.
The Bonanza is now famous throughout Europe for its legendary free street level Blues Festival, which this year boasts 31 venues and over 130 acts around the City Centre. It draws thousands of fans and musicians and undoubtedly boosts the number of visitors to the City and the surrounding areas.
The voluntary committee are delighted to announce that with a great deal of perseverance and financial help from Dukes Corner, Arts and Business Scotland, Park Leisure and The Dundee Courier that they are able to welcome back by popular demand 'the Alabama Rooster' Lil' Jimmy Reed to play in the city he calls his second home.
The International Extravaganza Launch will be held in Dukes Corner, Brown St. from 7.30pm till late on Friday 1st July with Lil' Jimmy and his 'Kick Ass Band'. Also performing will be German wonder guitarist Werner Lindner and his band the Flaming Stratmen and opening the evening will be Streetdog Andersen, the amazing one man band from Denmark.
Taking the blues after hours from midnight into early Sat will be Maggie Ross and her band.Maggie who recently joined last year's headliner Mud Morganfield on stage at Burnley!
The traditional Sunday Bonanza Party courtesy of Deja Vu in Cowgate will run from 7.30pm till 11.30pm and will be hosted by Los Angeles born singer Kat Pearson from Kat & Co. This event will feature Lil' Jimmy Reed, Canadian born guitarist Jimmy C. and the Blue Dragons and Britain's own legendary Boogie Woogie piano player and well honoured figure of the Bonanza, Bob Hall.
Dedicated to handing down the heritage to youngsters who seem keen to absorb it, The Bonanza continues to stage the Junior Workshop again in D.C.A. with a concert again in Jute Bar. These events are sponsored by Arts & Business Scotland and Dukes Corner, who are also involved in sustaining our traditional Adult Workshop and our
new ventures the Acoustic Workshop and the Blues Dance Workshop.
