The main parkland area in the central waterfront is Slessor Gardens, Over 10,000sqm this green space is designed to be a multi-functional space with capacity to host large events.

Located around the perimeter are nine themed gardens.

One is reflective of the geography and setting of Dundee; four are themed to reflect Dundee's historic global connections: The Baltic States, Caribbean, Asia and the Americas and the other four reflect key local connections and industries: The Natural Sciences, Health, Food production and Literature. The formation of these Gardens was completed in June and July 2016.

Further work on some of these gardens and the construction of two more gardens will take place later in the summer of 2016.

The delivery of all these gardens has been undertaken by Dundee City Council with the assistance of local volunteers from the Bonnie Dundee and Dundee Urban Orchard groups.
