How do I process the gift card?
The gift card is a prepaid Mastercard and should be processed like any other card (rather than a gift card/voucher).
The cards don’t have Chip and PIN and need to be swiped through the card machine or the card number entered manually.
If you have a card machine with a swipe facility:
Swipe the customer’s gift card through the machine and the sales value will be deducted from the card balance.
If you have a card machine without a swipe facility:
Input the long card number, expiry and CVV (located on the back of the card) into the terminal to complete the sale.
If it asks for a signature, please select ‘Yes’ otherwise the transaction will decline.
For digital cards:
Simply ask the customer to tap their phones like all other Apple, Android or Google payments.
What to do if the card doesn’t work:
Make sure there’s enough money on the card. Customers can check the balance on their card by scanning the QR code on the back, calling 0121 260 2849 or visiting getmybalance.com
If the card does not have enough funds:
You will need to split the transaction between the gift card and another payment method (e.g. card, credit card, or cash).
